When millions of visitors arrive in Serbia for EXPO 2027, many will encounter the country for the first time before they ever leave the airport.

That first impression may come through Air Serbia.

The national airline has formalized a Platinum partnership with EXPO 2027 Belgrade, positioning itself as one of the central players in the delivery and promotion of the specialized exhibition. The agreement, signed at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, gives Air Serbia a front-facing role in an event expected to become the largest international gathering ever hosted by Serbia and the wider region.

For an airline, a partnership of this scale is not merely a branding opportunity. It is a stress test of relevance. EXPO 2027 will bring participants from around 140 countries and more than four million visitors to Belgrade.

Air Serbia’s role will be to help make the country easier to reach. As part of the partnership, the carrier will enhance its capacities, increase frequencies on key markets and promote EXPO 2027 across its international network. Its aircraft will also carry the exhibition’s branding, extending the message of Belgrade 2027 across the routes that connect Serbia to Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East and beyond.

The timing gives the agreement additional significance. In 2027, Air Serbia will mark 100 years of its company history, placing the airline’s centenary alongside Serbia’s most ambitious international showcase to date.

“The year 2027 has additional significance for us. Next year, we will mark the 100th anniversary of our company. For Air Serbia, this century represents one of tradition, continuity, and the development of Serbian aviation. In the year of this great milestone, we will have the honour of being part of an event that will shape a new period of development both for the national airline and for Serbia,” noted Jiří Marek, CEO of Air Serbia.

Danilo Jerinić, Director of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, framed the goal in those terms, emphasizing that Serbia should be recognized in 2027 as open, connected and modern, and ready to host an event of global standing.

“Air Serbia’s role in this is crucial – to ensure the efficient arrival and departure of guests, increase the accessibility of our country, and contribute to the overall EXPO 2027 experience through quality, professionalism, reliability, and hospitality,” Jerinić emphasized.

For business travelers, EXPO 2027 may create new reasons to come to Belgrade, from delegations and conferences to partnership meetings and investment conversations. For leisure visitors, it could place Serbia more firmly on the European city-break and cultural travel map.

EXPO 2027 will ask Serbia to host the world. Air Serbia’s partnership signals how the country intends to bring that world to Belgrade—and how it hopes to be remembered once visitors fly home.
