Good Morning DC,
Snoop Dogg has expressed a newfound admiration for former President Donald Trump. “I have nothing but love and respect for Trump,” he told The Times.
The rapper may consider endorsing a candidate in the 2024 presidential election but stated that he will gauge “what the people say” as “mixed views” exist.
Seems like Snoop Dogg is taking the pulse of public sentiment before making any endorsement decisions.
Let’s get you caught up with the news of the day.
THE WHITE HOUSE
President Biden is traveling to Palm Beach, Florida today where he will attend a campaign reception.
Foreign affairs are influencing his domestic agenda as the President grapples with the “no easy answer” dilemma regarding the response to the drone attack that claimed the lives of three US soldiers.
According to John Kirby, Biden is engaged in discussions with his national security team, “weighing the options before him.”
ON THE HILL
House Republicans in the House Committee on Homeland Security are set to markup the articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas today.
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta are the featured speakers at a hearing of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party this morning. The session is centered on China’s backing of America’s adversaries.
GLOBAL AFFAIRS
Secretary Blinken is deeply concerned about rapidly escalating situation in the Middle East.
“This is an incredibly volatile time in the Middle East. I would argue that we’ve not seen a situation as dangerous as the one we’re facing now across the region since at least 1973, and arguably even before that,” stated US Secretary of State.
Britain is poised to explore the recognition of a Palestinian state, signaling a significant shift in diplomatic strategy aimed at cementing “irreversible” peace settlement in the Middle East.
Foreign Secretary David Cameron emphasized the importance of this move in advancing towards a two-state solution, despite staunch opposition from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
