50% of adult Americans have received their vaccine in time for Memorial Day weekend. Cool perk? United Airlines is giving away two round-trip tickets to vaccinated individuals.
On May 25, the White House response team announced that 50% of adults in America have been fully vaccinated before the start of Memorial Day weekend. Because of the progress being made, the 50% of adults that are vaccinated will now have the ability to receive two round trip tickets to anywhere in the world thanks to United Airlines.
Last week, President Joe Biden announced his goal of having 70% of adult Americans vaccinated by July 4. Now, we are only 20% away from meeting that goal. With the milestone of reaching 50% of vaccinated adults, White House officials announced the significant decline in COVID cases that they have seen this past week.
According to White House officials, the seven-day average of individuals contracting the virus is 22,877 cases. This is a 25% decrease prior to the last seven-day average, and White House officials give the credit to healthcare workers, the response team, and the 50% of adult Americans that have been vaccinated.
After a tough year of staying quarantined, CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky announced that 50% of adults that have been vaccinated will be able to celebrate Memorial Day weekend safely.
“We have seen after holiday weekends in the past that cases have risen, but we’ve never been in a position where we’ve had almost half the adults of America vaccinated and protected from this virus,” said Walensky. “Our guidance is very clear. If you are vaccinated, you are protected.”
As we enter into the Memorial Day weekend, the White House response team encourages individuals to continue to get vaccinated. By doing so, many will have the opportunity to safely see their loved ones during Memorial Day.
