Good Morning DC,
Another week conquered. Feeling like you’ve been running on empty? You’re not alone.
In the world of politics and press, it seems the UK government has drawn a line in the sand, declaring a firm ban on direct foreign state ownership of British newspapers. Looks like Abu Dhabi’s RedBird IMI won’t be swooping in to snatch up Telegraph Media Group after all.
And since we love all things crypto, we have some news. As of today, The Chamber of Digital Commerce officially becomes The Digital Chamber, or as they like to say, TDC.
Let’s get you caught up with the news of the day.
President Biden is going to Wilmington, Delaware today.
During her visit to Puerto Rico, Vice President Kamala Harris will emphasize the significant progress in Puerto Rico’s economic resurgence, attributing it to over $140 billion in Federal support and extensive collaborative efforts under the Puerto Rico Economic Dialogue initiative.
At a campaign reception in Huston, Texas, John Eddie Williams, founding partner of Williams Hart, briefly introduced President Biden. Biden addressed the crowd from a raised platform in front of two American flags, mentioning five national polls that showed him leading, while commenting on the press’s lack of coverage on this positive development.
“I like the press, but they don’t talk about it much,” Biden said. “Five national polls having us leading since my State of the Union.”
There is ongoing consideration of a potential ‘No Labels‘ run for the White House, with Chris Christie not ruling it out.
“There’s a lot between actually running yourself and nothing. But I wouldn’t preclude anything at this point,” Christie told David Axelrod on his podcast.
This aligns with previous reporting from The Pavlovic Today, suggesting the existence of a group in America exploring the idea of a Unity, bipartisan ticket that could potentially include Liz Cheney.
The House is set to vote for the $1.2 trillion spending bill.
“Under no circumstances can we tolerate a government shutdown, which will hurt the American people,” said Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries at his weekly press conference. “We have a responsibility to make sure that the government is funded and the six appropriations bills do so in a way that takes care of the health, the safety, the education and the economic well-being of the American people.”
State Department wants Israel to agree to a six week pause in fighting in Gaza. Secretary Antony Blinken is in Tel Aviv today to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
