Good Morning DC! How was your weekend? Did you get your $1400 check yet? It’s Monday, and we have news for you from the nation’s capital, Washington D.C.
President Biden stumbled upon the stairs of AF1, and Republicans cheered his stumble. The same Republicans who protested too much about attacks on Trump’s health are attacking the new president for the same thing. Will the lessons ever be learned? I doubt it, but still, we are here to keep pointing to inconsistencies, remaining impartial, and asking questions.
On Saturday, the NRA fired a Twitter shot at Jen Psaki.
“Circle Back Psaki needs a lesson on the Second Amendment. Registration always leads to confiscation. Americans will NEVER register or give up our guns.”
When guns get overly political, it’s never a good sign.
Upon his return from Camp David on Sunday afternoon, President Biden talked briefly to the press about the situation at the border.
— Are you thinking of going to the border?
Biden: “At some point, I will, yes.”
–– Do you want to see what’s going on in those facilities first hand?
Biden: “I know what’s going on in those facilities.”
— Why isn’t the message to migrants to stay home resonating and can more be done?
Biden: “A lot more. We’re in the process of doing it now, including making sure that we reestablish what existed before, which was they can stay in place and make their case from their home country.”
A state of emergency has been issued in the city of Miami City after college students flocked there for spring break, breaking state and CDC COVID-guidelines and likely leading to yet another COVID-19 surge. A 10 pm to 6 am curfew has been issued city-wide and will last until April 12th.
The Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber said that the tens of thousands of tourists brought “chaos and disorder” with them, and compared the overwhelming crowds to a rock concert with “wall-to-wall people over blocks and blocks.”
Across the pond, The Sunday Times published an exclusive portrait of the future King of Britain, Prince William. Told through the eyes of Willam’s friends, the piece tells the story of the role William envisions for the monarchy in the next twenty years. Royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah, revealed that William was “reeling” in the immediate aftermath of Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah. While Megan used her friend Gayle King as a mouthpiece about the private conversation Harry had with William after the interview, the source at the Palace said that “none of the households will be giving a running commentary on private conversations.” Case close. Nothing more to be seen here.
Turkey suddenly withdrew from the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence. “This is a disheartening step backward for the international movement to end violence against women globally,” said President Biden.
What will Biden do today? The President will meet virtually with the Senate Democratic Caucus during their annual retreat.
Heads up: On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, the President will travel to Columbus. His trip is a part of the “Help Is Here” tour that wants to highlight how the American Rescue Plan will lower health care costs for many American families.
The President will deliver remarks in Columbus, Ohio on the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act being signed into law.
On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, The President will host an event to mark Equal Pay Day.
Thursday, March 25, 2021, will be an especially exciting day for the White House press as Joe Biden holds his first formal press conference since he became the president.

Over the weekend, Page Six informed us all that Scott Kluth dumped again his fiance Tinsley Mortimer. In a CBS interview, Demi Lovato opened up about her recovery from drug addiction and eating disorders just days before her new documentary, “Dancing with the Devil” premieres on YouTube. In 2018, Lovato suffered a near-fatal drug overdose and in her interview, she said that “the doctors told me that I had five to 10 minutes, like, if no one found me, then I wouldn’t be here.” Her documentary will act as an opening act for her new album, titled the same as the movie, which will be released on April 2nd.
Given that both the movie and album are expected to reflect back on Lovato’s roughest moments in life, we suggest preparing a tub of comfort ice cream before watching/listening to either.
