Trust will remain a cornerstone of the insurance industry despite rapid global change, a senior executive at Serbia’s Dunav Insurance said at the Kopaonik Business Forum — often referred to as the “Serbian Davos” — held March 1–4.
“Many things will change in the future, but trust will remain the foundation of contractual relationships,” Milo Markovic, a member of the company’s executive board, said during a panel discussion.
His remarks come as insurers worldwide face mounting pressure from climate volatility, geopolitical instability and technological disruption — forces reshaping how risk is assessed and managed.
Against this backdrop, Dunav Insurance says it has seen steady growth across key performance indicators, reflecting what the company describes as a gradual strengthening of public confidence in its services.
Markovic said the industry must adapt to shifting economic dynamics while maintaining that trust.
“Our presence is important not only to underline the necessity of insurance in today’s world, but also to understand how other sectors are evolving so we can respond more effectively to their needs,” he said.
He identified four major trends influencing the sector: climate change, demographic shifts, technological transformation and geopolitical risk.
“These are the questions we must answer,” Markovic said. “What will insurers look like in the future? How will risk structures evolve? What role will artificial intelligence play? And how will insurance be purchased — who will be partners and who will be competitors?”
The forum brought together more than 1,500 participants from business, government and academia, highlighting a growing regional focus on economic resilience in an increasingly uncertain global environment.
Dunav Insurance, one of the country’s leading insurers, said it aims to align its strategy with these global shifts while continuing to expand its market presence and product offering.
