A scheduled meeting between U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, who also leads the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), was abruptly canceled Wednesday due to what the speaker’s office described as “an unforeseen scheduling conflict.”
The meeting had been set for 4:15 p.m. ET at the U.S. Capitol and was expected to include a press pool.
“Due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, Speaker Johnson will no longer meet with Prime Minister Plenkovic today,” the speaker’s office said in a statement.
Plenkovic is on a trip to Washington for the Atlantic Council’s Distinguished Leadership Awards, honoring him alongside Gen. Jay Raymond, Victor Pinchuk, and Judy Collins.
