Donald Trump said this morning his discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin could help bring an end to the war in Ukraine, while warning of an imminent humanitarian disaster on the battlefield.
In a statement released on his social media platform, Trump described his conversation with Putin as “very good and productive,” asserting that there was “a very good chance” of ending the bloody conflict.
However, he sounded the alarm over a worsening situation, cautioning that thousands of Ukrainian troops were in a “very bad and vulnerable position” as they faced Russian forces.
Trump said he had personally appealed to Putin to spare the lives of those trapped, calling the situation a potential “horrible massacre” reminiscent of World War II.
