Brian Fallon, the communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign, discussed on Tuesday their rationale for her interview with Bret Baier on Fox News.
“I think there’s a good number of independents and Haley-style Republicans who are very open to voting for VP Harris, and that’s why we are open to doing events with Republicans and on Fox News.”
He added that the campaign felt successful in reaching its goals during the interview, stating, “We feel like like we definitely achieved what we set out to achieve in the sense that she was able to reach an audience that is probably been not exposed to the arguments she’s been making on the trail and she also got to show her toughness in standing tall against a hostile interviewer.”
On Wednesday evening, Vice President Harris addressed the potential dangers of a second Trump term during her appearance on Fox News. She highlighted Trump’s remarks about using the military against American citizens.

Harris emphasized, “I think the American people have concerns about Donald Trump, which is why the people who know him best, including leaders of our national security community, have all spoken out, even people who worked for him in the Oval Office, worked with him in the Situation Room and have said he’s unfit and dangerous and should never be President of the United States again, including his former Vice President, which is why the job was open for him to choose another running mate.”
In the same interview, Vice President Kamala Harris stated that her administration, if elected, “would not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency.” She added, “Like every new president that comes into office, I will bring my life experiences, my professional experiences, and fresh new ideas. I represent a new generation of leadership.”
The 25-minute interview was marked by frequent cross-talks and confrontations between Harris and host Bret Baier. It ended with Baier saying, “Madam Vice President, they’re giving me a hard wrap.”
Vice President Kamala Harris gave a brief assessment of her Fox News interview, appearing to mouth the words, “It was good,” when asked about it by the traveling White House press.
