On Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris embarked on a media blitz in New York City, culminating in an interview with The Late Show host and Democratic activist Stephen Colbert for a can of Miller High Life—an odd choice, perhaps, but one that serves as an emblematic prop in this so-called “Vibe Election.”

“When you first became the nominee and named Tim Walz as your vice president nominee people were calling it the vibe election. The vibes were all good,” the comedian began.

“Would you like to have a beer with me so I can tell people what that’s like?” he asked. “Now, we asked ahead of time because we can’t just be giving a drink to the vice president of the United States. You asked for Miller High Life.”

“OK, the last time I had beer was at a baseball game with Doug. Cheers,” Harris replied.

As they cracked open the cold cans, Colbert chimed in, “There you go. It’s cold. From the beautiful city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.”

Colbert continued, “So that covers Wisconsin. Let’s talk Michigan. Let’s appeal to the Michigan voters, OK? What are your favorite Bob Seger songs?”

However, Harris did not appear enthusiastic as Colbert listed Seger songs. Finally, she responded, “I’ll go Aretha or Eminem. You got any?”

Later, Colbert asked if Donald Trump lost the 2020 election.

Harris said, “You know, I’m going to tell you what some of the people at my rallies—quite a few people show up, by the way—say: When you lost millions of jobs, you lost manufacturing, you lost automotive plants, you lost the election. What does that make you? A loser. This is what somebody at my rallies said. I thought it was funny.”

She laughed, and Colbert remarked, “It’s accurate. It’s accurate.”

Harris added, laughing, “This is what happens when I drink beer!”
