In the thriving landscape of Serbian agriculture, recognition for top farmers reached new heights last year through the ‘Blic Top Farmer’ project, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
Acknowledging the outstanding achievements in five categories, winners were rewarded with a substantial prize of seven million dinars. The significance of this endeavor, not only in promoting local farmers but also in fortifying their ongoing efforts, found a noteworthy ally in Dunav Insurance Company.
Jelena Tanasković, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management opened the prestigious ceremony by emphasizing the revolutionary strides made in Serbian agriculture. With digitalization, effective controls, and a threefold increase in the budget, the sector has witnessed unprecedented progress. Minister Tanasković also highlighted the state’s commitment to supporting farmers, reimbursing a significant portion of insurance costs, ranging from 40% to 70%, depending on the region. That’s where Dunav Insurance comes in.
In a competitive field of four hundred applicants from across Serbia, the jury, which included Milo Marković from the Executive Board of Dunav Insurance Company, had the challenging task of identifying the most successful agricultural producers. During the award ceremony, Marković elucidated on the criteria used in the decision-making process, emphasizing the importance of insurance in agricultural production.
Marković stressed the significance of Dunav insurance in ensuring security and stability for farmers.

“What does insurance provide? It ensures security and stability. Dunav Insurance Company strives to meet the needs of its clients, particularly farmers. We offer a wide range of products. Besides standard coverage against hail, fire, and lightning, the most cautious can also secure additional covers against floods and storms. I intentionally emphasize storms because last year, we witnessed a supercell thunderstorm that caused significant damage to agriculture in the northern part of our country. Agricultural producers can find affordable insurance options to protect their production. All they need to do is contact our agents, who will visit them and tailor an offer that best suits their needs,” explained Marković.
Notably, among the winners for fruit and vegetable production were farmers who entrust their agricultural production to Dunav Insurance.
Slavoljub Nikolić from Despotovo and Vladan Novaković from Latvica shared their positive experiences, highlighting the comprehensive coverage and excellent service provided by Dunav Insurance.
“We’ve looked at different insurance options, but Dunav Insurance has earned our complete trust,” said Novaković. “With around 10 acres of orchards growing plums, apples, blackberries, and raspberries, we’ve been insuring our entire production with Dunav since 2010. Honestly, we’ve got no complaints – quite the opposite. When we faced a total crop loss in 2022, Dunav won us over for life. That’s our decision, and we stand by it.”
Dunav Insurance Company, having forged strong bonds with these farmers, remains steadfast in supporting the continued development of the agriculture sector in the future.
