The longest-serving Muslim mayor of Prospect Park, NJ, Mohamed Khairullah, was blocked by the Secret Service from attending tonight’s Eid al-Fitr reception with President Biden at The White House tonight.
The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has reported that Mayor Mohamed Khairullah was informed by the White House shortly before the Eid-al-Fitr celebration that he had not been cleared for entry into the White House complex by the Secret Service.
“While we regret any inconvenience this may have caused, the mayor was not allowed to enter the White House complex this evening,” Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed in a statement.
“Unfortunately we are not able to comment further on the specific protective means and methods used to conduct our security operations at the White House,” added Guglielmi.
The reason for the block remains unknown.
