NYC—Starting Monday, registration opens for Summer Rising, New York City’s largest free summer child care program. Families can enroll their school-aged children for classroom-based learning and recreational activities, which are typically expensive.

This year, the program aims to allocate its 110,000 available seats in a more equitable manner, unlike previous years where registration was on a first-come, first-serve basis. All children attending school in the five boroughs, including private and charter schools, and homeschooling families are eligible for the program.

Summer Rising is a collaboration between school principals and community-based organizations to provide children across the five boroughs with opportunities to learn and play during the summer months. Breakfast, lunch, and snack will be served. To enroll their children, families can visit the Summer Rising website.
