Kevin McCarthy and Senate GOP leadership have been “largely silent” about Trump’s statement about “terminating” the Constitution, and the White House is not pleased.
This afternoon, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates shared his political grievances by hitting out at the Republicans for dodging reporters over Trump’s remarks.
Following the Twitter Files release, Trump said, “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”
White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said, “Every President and every member of Congress swears to ‘defend’ the Constitution” of the United States.
“Asking Members of Congress to reaffirm their oath of office and uphold the Constitution should not be a heavy lift. Congressional Republicans need to do that immediately, instead of repeatedly refusing to answer the most basic question,”added Bates.
On Monday, Trump went to his social media Truth Social to say that he never said he wanted to “terminate” the Constitution.
“The Fake News is actually trying to convince the American People that I said I wanted to ‘terminate’ the Constitution. This is simply more DISINFORMATION & LIES, just like RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, and all of their other HOAXES & SCAMS,” said former President despite the fact that he did call for the “termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”
