UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is scheduled to return to Belfast on Wednesday to address a prominent conference and host a gala dinner that will highlight the presence of young volunteers. Sunak’s appearance marks the latest in a series of events that commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, which aims to promote peace and prosperity in Northern Ireland.
Sunak’s visit to Belfast comes on the heels of the UK Prime Minister’s recent trip to Northern Ireland, which saw a warm reception for US President Joe Biden during his visit to Belfast.

Sunak spoke highly of the “courage, imagination, and perseverance” of those who spearheaded the Good Friday Agreement, calling them “the leading architects of peace.” The Prime Minster also praised the emergence of a younger generation of volunteers who are actively working to strengthen communities across Northern Ireland.
Sunak stated, “This week, I will also pay tribute to the youth who have persistently endeavored to heal the scars of a somber and challenging past, and to those who paved the way for a brighter future.”
The Agreement 25 conference, scheduled to take place at Queen’s University, is expected to draw attention from both domestic and international audiences. The event will feature speeches from high-profile figures, including former UK Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair and ex-US Senator George Mitchell.
