After going on a boat ride with her 4-year-old son, actress Naya Rivera went missing on July 8. The police think that she drowned.

Throughout my childhood and into my adolescence, I have loved and watched Glee, the TV show about a group of individual high school misfits who join the Glee Club and find a community of drama, friendship, singing, dancing, and competition.

Actress Naya Rivera, who played the character of Santana Lopez in Glee, went on a boat ride with her 4-year-old son, Josey, at California’s Lake Piru. After a report came in that a young child was alone in a boat in the middle of the lake on July 8, the police investigated and discovered that the child’s mother was star Naya Rivera. While the child is safe, Naya is nowhere to be seen. After two days of searching the surrounding area for footprints and the water with solar technology, she is still missing and police authorities think that she has drowned.

In a press conference on Thursday, Sgt. Kevin Donoghue from the Ventura County Sheriff’s office, said that Lake Piru’s murky visibility is hindering the search for the actress.

Missing on July 8 after she rented a boat with her 4-year-old son, Josey.

“In this particular lake, in that area, there’s a lot of trees and plants and such that are under the water that can cause entanglements. It makes it unsafe for the divers and it makes it a more complicated search,” Donoghue explained.

“If the body is entangled in something beneath the water, it may never come back up. We don’t know,” he added.

However, he also said that his team is “putting forth our best foot” to try to locate her. While the police believe that she is dead, Donoghue wants to bring closure to her family, friends, and fans by finding her body. The police and team of detectives are continuing their search for the young actress.
