The First Lady Melania Trump greeted Entissar el-Sisi, the Egyptian First Lady, for an arrival ceremony featuring Egyptian military officials, schoolchildren wearing flags, and three little girls wearing floral dresses.

Cairo, Egypt

After a lengthy sweep of staff, media and security at the airport’s presidential terminal, FLOTUS was cleared to descend the steps of her plane.

Wearing a tan blazer, a crisp white shirt, black tie and wide-leg white pants, FLOTUS emerged at 12:04 pm. She greeted Entissar el-Sisi, the Egyptian First Lady, for an arrival ceremony featuring Egyptian military officials, schoolchildren wearing flags, and three little girls wearing floral dresses.

FLOTUS was given a large bouquet of flowers before the girls were gently shooed away by security. Unlike the ceremonies in the other countries we’ve visited, this was a comparatively silent arrival ceremony. No music. Very touchy security.

Five members of the pool were allowed to follow as the two First Ladies, who were chatting together as they walked down the red carpet, to a side room in the terminal. They sat down in gold and tan chairs and posed in front of a map of Egypt and the River Nile as cameras flashed. The pair remained in the room for several minutes after pool was ushered out.

We are rolling to the presidential palace (Ittihadiya Palace) at 12:26 pm. There, the First Ladies will participate in a photo with Mr. Sisi before the three go into a private meeting.
