Secretary of State Antony Blinken is about to embark on a grand tour of four countries. Starting on April 11th, Blinken will hopscotch through the United Kingdom, Ireland, Vietnam, and Japan.

Vietnam will be the site of the Secretary’s important discussions with Vietnamese officials, as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Comprehensive Partnership. The goal, according to the State Department is to explore ways to promote a connected, prosperous, peaceful, and resilient Indo-Pacific region.

Blinken will then go to Karuizawa, Japan, where he’ll participate in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. There, he’ll be discussing pressing global issues with his counterparts, including Russia’s continued war against Ukraine, nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, food and energy security, and advancing an affirmative vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific.

Before his visit to Asia, Secretary Blinken will accompany President Biden on his trip to the United Kingdom and Ireland from April 11th to 14th. This visit will undoubtedly set the tone for Blinken’s future engagements in the region, as he and President Biden work together to strengthen America’s relationships with key allies and partners.
