Current issues on Biden’s schedule: caregiving and the economy

Context: President Biden is set to make an announcement today to enhance care for working families while simultaneously providing support for care workers and family caregivers. Accompanied by individuals from various advocacy groups, the President signed an Executive Order featuring over 50 directives. These directives will impact almost all cabinet-level agencies, enhancing affordable, high-quality care access and providing support for care workers and family caregivers.

Specifically, his Executive Order will:

  • Make child care and long-term care more accessible and affordable for families, including military families
  • Improve access to home-based care for veterans
  • Boost job quality for early educators.
  • Enhance job quality for long-term care workers. 
  • Support family caregivers.
  • Advance domestic workers’ rights
  • Ease construction of early childhood facilities for Tribes.
  • Engage affected communities

11:00 AM – President Biden receives the Presidential Daily Briefing. This is a daily update on current intelligence and national security issues provided by the intelligence community to the President.

2:00 PM – President Biden delivers remarks on actions to help families access care, support care workers and family caregivers, and strengthen the economy.

2:45 PM – There will be a press briefing by the White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre.
