Good Morning DC!

Yesterday, Biden announced that the American Rescue Plan would be delivering a child tax cut for 88% of families in the US

All eligible middle-class and working-class families will receive a payment of $300 per month for children under the age of 6 and up to $250 a month for each child above the age of 6

Treasury and IRS said that the increased CTC payments would be made on the 15th of each month, through direct deposit, paper checks, or debit cards.

Unlike his predecessor, Biden released his 2020 federal income tax return. What have we learned? The Bidens filed their income tax return jointly and reported a federal adjusted gross income of $607,336. They paid $157,414 in federal income tax.

Psaki confirmed that the administration is ardent on maintaining the U.S.-Israeli relationship but condemns the murder of innocent civilians in both states and calls for an end to the violence.

The President’s stance is to support any diplomatic resolution and stand with the U.N., but the United States will not get involved in advocating for a cease-fire without their support

In a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Biden reiterated his support for Israel’s right to defend itself against indiscriminate rocket attacks. He encouraged Israel to make every effort to ensure the protection of innocent civilians. Biden discussed U.S. engagement with Egypt and other partners to bring the conflict to an end.

As the fight against Covid-19 continues, Biden announced that the pandemic cases are the lowest it has ever been. 60% of Americans have been vaccinated, and Biden gave thanks to those individuals for helping to lower COVID cases in their communities.

Americans who are two weeks after their second Covid vaccination dose are free to take off their masks indoors and outdoors in public settings. However, the Administration has chosen not to interfere with the private sector and allow businesses to decide between maintaining a mask mandate.

Individuals may choose to keep a mask on due to health risks and vaccination conflicts, but the government will have no say either way

According to World Health Organization, overworking employees is the cause of early death.

With Covid causing many lifestyle changes for individuals, WHO and ILO are making it a priority to spotlight employees that are being overworked due to the pandemic.

Teleworking has become the norm in many industries, often blurring the boundaries between home and work,” said WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. “In addition, many businesses have been forced to scale back or shut down operations to save money, and people who are still on payroll end up working longer hours.”

Former President Trump is configuring the Republican party to his liking. He issued a statement congratulating Frank Eathorne for being re-elected as Chairman of the Republican Party of Wyoming. “It was my honor to work with you so that your great achievements can be continued,” Trump said.”The people of Wyoming are special, and so are you!”

Eager to get back to the movie theatre? The good news is that Radio City Music Hall in New York City will reopen on June 19 for the Tribeca Film Festival.

And that’s a wrap for this Tuesday morning, May 18, 2021. Yesterday, the White House called an early lid at 1:48 pm. Quite early for Monday morning, but all things considered, there will never be a shortage of news in this town. Thanks for waking up with me. Good Morning DC will be back tomorrow to bring you the latest first.
