The former Cabinet minister Dame Andrea Leadsom has become the latest senior Conservative in the UK to criticize Boris Johnson over lockdown parties in Downing Street.

Since the Sue Gray report on the Partygate scandal, many MPs voiced their criticism of Boris Johnson.

Andrea Leadsom has become the latest vocal critic of Johnson. Leadsom is a former cabinet minister who in the past has been loyal to him.

In a letter to her constituents, Leadsom said there had been unacceptable leadership failures. She hasn’t said whether she will submit a letter of no confidence to the Chairman of the 1922 committee, but she did say, “my colleagues and I must now decide on what is the right course of action that will restore confidence in our government.”

MP for Carlisle, James Stephenson, confirmed he had submitted a letter calling for a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister. He said the continuing criticism, revelations, and questions are debilitating for the government when there are so many critical issues to be addressed.

To trigger a vote, 54 letters are needed. So far, 18 Conservative Members of Parliament have publicly submitted letters of no-confidence in Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
